Mindset and the Maha Gunas

What you are seeking, you will find…

Faults.

Reasons.

Excuses.

Blame.

Or,

Truth.

Growth.

Solutions.

Forgiveness.

Easier said than done though, right?

Did you know that the Maha Gunas (the subtle energies that govern material nature) might be influencing how you process emotions and life challenges?

When we’re heavily influenced by the mode of ignorance (Tamas), it tends to breed a lack of desire to understand reality (‘under the spell of ignorance’ as it’s described in the Bhagavad-Gita). When we’re predominantly under the influence of Tamas, we’ll appear to be often dejected, while fostering a closed mindset and deep-seated emotional blocks.

When we’re under the influence of the mode of goodness (Sattva), we’re more likely to process difficult emotions with a sense of ownership, understanding, and insight. This allows us to let go, forgive, move forwards and heal, in a gentle, organic manner. When we are able to process emotions and pain in this way, it can help to prevent the overwhelming burden of heavier emotions such as shame, blame, and guilt from manifesting.

If you’re struggling to move on from heavy emotions, try living a more sattvic lifestyle (lifestyle regulation (Dinacharya), vegetarian whole-foods, meditation, Pranayama, time in nature, etc).

Where Rajas and Tamas create disruption, Sattva breeds clarity, a sense of contentment, and the ability to make sound, sensible decisions. Having this foundation in place sets us up for ongoing healthy thought processes and lends us a greater capacity to grow through what we go through.

(Extra Tip: to tenfold your results, add a daily practice of Mantra Meditation)
